A special meeting

girlsThanks to the Sammy’s Friends group that I help co-moderate, two other families met up with us at the St. Louis Zoo today. We got to meet two sweet little girls who Jordan proudly noticed: “She has an arm like me!” It was so cool.

We all walked around the zoo, talked about things any family would talk about and then we’d periodically talk about little arms, Shriners, prosthetics and things we were/are worried about for our kids. It was a wonderful first time meeting and I can’t wait for more to come.

I can’t tell you how awesome it feels when you get to hang out with families who you would have never had a chance to meet without the help of our kids. I honestly feel we are all blessed to have this special connection. I am honored and it is amazing to see the places Jordan has helped take me – physically and in spirit as I grow each day with the help of both of my kids.

If you all are every close to Kentucky, let us know. I’d love for Keenan and Jordan to meet. Louisville is 1.5 hours north for us, so we would gladly drive to hang out with you all. :-) Keenan feels like he knows Jordan by seeing her on this website. haha

That’s so great that you were able to get together. I actually was able to meet another CdLS family just this weekend. There is something amazing about talking with other people who really do understand!

What a sweet bunch of girls!

Meet ups are awesome! Crista – I’m in Western Kentucky from time to time… We haven’t been to Lexington in a while, but if we ever get a chance, I’ll make sure you know!

It was a blast meeting Jordan and Ava and their families! It was great to see Jordan in action–when a little girl asked what happened to her arm she said, “I was just born that way!!!” You must be very proud–we are lucky to have both of your special families as friends!

Oh yeah! Tell Jordan she was absolutely right when she said that Sophie had ONE TOOTH rather than ZERO!!! She does have her first tooth! I noticed it when she got ahold of my thumb the following morning! It’s a sharp one! Haha!!!

Lisa! That’s so great. Jordan will be so excited to hear about Sophie’s tooth. By the way, I was SUPER proud of Jordan when she told that little girl about her arm. I’m excited to see her proudly declare the simplicity of her situation: she was born that way!

Yea! This is so great! I’m so glad you were able to meet up. It’s really important for our kids to have real personal contact with other kids like them. It makes me so happy for you all.
